While there have been numbers of great painters from Tokai region, Katsuhisa Sato who organized the exhibition himself is one prominent artist who works both on paintings and installations based in Nagoya.
Due to a widely expanded variety of materials and methods applied in the contemporary art-making, there have been numerous collaborations and participatory works by artist groups recently. In the meantime, “painting” remains a genre which still requires one to pursue expression in solitude through such a primitive action to “paint”, just like many of painters in history had gone through. It was an attempt to examine ideas and experiences among artists and curators who regularly deal with the idea of “painting”, based on concerns from each artist.
While the exhibition and talks became good opportunities to share and present each artist’s perspective toward art-making, various response from audience also showed high interest for population associated with “painting” that seem to be peculiar to the Tokai region.

<a href="http://www.mat-nagoya.jp/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/SomethingofPainting32.jpg"
